A SANCTUARY OF TRANQUILTY
- Our serene retreat situated in the heart of Anuradhapura’s rich historical landscape with two Wewa’s within its close vicinity. Beyond Basawakkulama Wewa on one side located just 1.5 km from Nisansala is the ancient Thuparamaya Dagaba enshrining Lord Buddha’s Collar Bone is the oldest temple in Sri Lanka.
- Half a kilometer from Thuparamaya is the magnificent Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, which enshrines the largest collection of Lord Buddha’s relics in the world, just half a kilometer away from Ruwanwelisaya is the sacred Sri Maha Bodhiya, the tree over 2500 years old and is the oldest recorded tree in the world. Nisansala offers unparalleled proximity to these revered sites.
- On the other side, beyond the Bulankulama Wewa which Nisansala our holiday home overlooks serves as the perfect base for exploring the broader historical wonders of Anuradhapura, including Abhayagiri Vihara (which enshrines Lord Buddha’s Food Bowl), the Samadhi Buddha Statue, Kuttam Pokuna (Twin Ponds), and the Lankaramaya Viharaya.
